Employer benefits

Why employers choose ABM member bureaus

Professional standards

ABM members commit to clear professional standards and a culture of doing things properly – not cutting corners when things are busy. For employers, that means a provider who takes responsibility, behaves ethically, and treats payroll as business-critical, not "just admin."

Clearer communication

You should never be left guessing what's happening with your payroll or what you need to do next. ABM member bureaus aim to communicate in plain English, with clear deadlines, quick escalation when something's off track, and fewer last-minute surprises

Stronger controls

Reliable payroll depends on strong checks and disciplined processes – not heroics. ABM member bureaus focus on robust controls around changes, approvals, and checking, helping reduce errors and the "single point of failure" risk that can exist when knowledge sits with one person.

Better prepared for change

Payroll changes constantly – rates, rules, reporting expectations, and HMRC processes don't stand still. ABM member bureaus stay close to what's changing and translate it into practical action, so you get early warning, clearer impact, and smoother implementation.

FAQ's

Can I cancel my membership at any time?

Membership is paid annually in advance. If you wish to cancel next year’s membership just get in touch at least 1 month before the renewal date.

ABM membership runs for a minimum term of 12 months and renews automatically for a further 12 months unless you tell us otherwise. Renewal notifications are sent around 45 days before your renewal date, and if you don’t wish to renew, you’ll need to let us know in writing within 14 days of that notification. If we don’t hear from you in that window, your membership will renew for another 12-month term, and if you’re paying monthly, those payments will continue for the term.

Once a new or renewed term has started, we’re not able to offer refunds, and cancelling partway through a term doesn’t remove the obligation to pay any outstanding fees for that term.

I’m not sure about being in a meeting with my competitors

It’s up to every bureau manager how they deal with sharing information and what they do with information which others have freely shared with them. The whole atmosphere in our Bureau Managers Roundtable meetings is hugely suppoprtive and collaborative and, on the whole, everyone is keen to share their experiences and ideas. Everyone benefits and, after all, there is plenty of business out there for all of us.

What payment methods do you accept for memberships?

You will be invoiced for the full amount of the annual membership. You can pay your annual membership fee in full by bank transfer, or spread the cost across 12 automatic monthly payments by direct debit through GoCardless. Your membership benefits and 12-month term stay the same either way…the choice is simply how you’d like to manage the cost. Your preferred payment method can be selected when your membership renews each year.

What are the benefits of becoming a member?

Take a look at the member benefits page and you’ll find all the information you need. If you’d like to speak to one of the members please get in touch and I’ll arrange it for you.
